Here are 6 ways to Reduce Gas Costs

Increase your vehicle’s fuel efficiency and get better gas mileage:

1. Regular maintenance

Regular oil changes and tune-ups will help keep your car running at peak performance.

2. Consolidate trips

Try to plan trips in advance, and combine errands whenever possible. Why not stop at the grocery store and post office on the way back from getting your hair cut?

3. Carpool When You Can

Going to the same place as your neighbor? Meeting friends for lunch? If you can drive together, you’ll be burning less gasoline. Trade off and save money

4. Drive conservatively

Accelerating and braking quickly can make your engine work harder and burn more fuel. Avoid slamming on the brakes or accelerating rapidly, except in emergency situations.

5. Clean out your car

Extra junk in your trunk weighs down your vehicle, which means you use more gas to get around. Remove heavy items that you don’t regularly use.

6.  Shift earlier

High RPMs = low fuel efficiency. That means driving like you’re racing the car next to you isn’t going to cut your fuel costs. If your car has a standard transmission, upshift earlier to reduce fuel consumption. Actual RPMs will vary by model, so check your owner’s manual to learn when to shift to the next highest gear

In 1992 Peter Crilly decided to change careers. He wanted to launch a business that would serve the community. He decided on Insurance.

No stranger to challenges, Peter had worked his way through college earning a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Northeastern University  followed by a successful ten year stint as a Senior Account Manager in the Computer Industry.

In 1993 Peter Crilly began working as an independent contractor for Nationwide Insurance  and began contacting potential prospects.  He made phone calls. He sent out letters, postcards, and flyers. He joined business to business leads groups and he delivered donuts to small businesses hoping to gain referrals. He opened an office in Annapolis and the business began to grow.

Today the Crilly Agency has expanded to serve clients all over the state of Maryland and also has licenses in Virginia, D.C, Delaware, and Pennsylvania.  We have two offices, one in Annapolis and the second in Catonsville.

Peter believes strongly in service to the community and has been an active member of the Parole Rotary Club for close to 25 years.  Recipient of the Nationwide President’s Conference Award as well recipient of the Champion Sales Award multiple times, Peter has been also honored to receive the Nationwide Insurance Regional Community Service and District Community Service Awards.  Licensed in Property and Casualty as well as life insurance, Peter holds the CLCS(Commercial Lines Coverage Specialist) designation and LUTCF (Life Underwriting Training Council Fellow) designation.

A Masters swimmer and a distance runner since high school, Peter enjoys competing in local running events.  The father of three and married to Nadja Maril, Peter lives in Annapolis.

The youngest member of the Crilly Agency Team, Ashley Harris can easily pivot from one task to the next as she helps clients with their home and auto insurance coverage.  A Customer Service Representative with the Crilly Agency since 2016, Ashley holds  the CLCS ( Commercial Lines Coverage  Specialist) designation and is licensed as a property and casualty agent. She is based at our Riva Road, Annapolis office.

Ashley prides herself in keeping up with all the technological innovations in communications and works with customers to find the best ways to keep them up to date on their insurance, finding the very best insurance coverage to suit her client’s needs.
